Museum Fills Up Thursday Nights

Laguna Art Museum will host an array of Thursday evening events this month.

They include a kids’ summer camp Aug. 5-9, a 7 p.m. evening concert with three wind players and special guest percussionist T.J. Troy on Thursday, Aug. 8; a lecture with “Faux Real” artists and husband and wife Sandow Birk and Elsye Pignolet on Thursday, Aug. 11; the Laguna Beach Film Society screening of the comedy “Sideways” on Thursday, Aug. 15; a lecture with contemporary art collector Kóan Jeff Baysa on Thursday, Aug. 22; and a lecture with filmmaker Dale Schierholt about his series of artist documentaries on Thursda, Aug. 29.

Cookbook Author, Blogger Demonstrates Recipes

Cookbook author and food blogger Sara Forte will be demonstrating step-by-step recipes from her cookbook, “Sprouted Kitchen,” including lemon herb hummus and a kale pesto for tomato and mozzarella skewers, at the Festival of Arts on Sunday, Aug. 4 from 1-2 p.m.

She and her husband, Hugh, a self-taught photographer, last fall released their first cookbook, “Sprouted Kitchen: A Tastier Take on Whole Foods.” The book is mostly vegetarian and produce focused.

The event takes place in the Festival’s Art Center and is free with Festival admission.

 

‘Penny Lane’ Detours to Playhouse With a Tribute Act

Britishmania, a Beatles tribute concert, will begin performances Aug. 13-25 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Rd.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. and at 2 p.m. on weekends. Tickets range from $35 to $60 and can be purchased online at www.lagunaplayhouse.com or by calling 949-497-ARTS (2787).
