Stars’ Shimmer Along With Car Winner

Multiple Grammy winner and two-time Academy Award nominee James Ingram and actress and former resident Heather Locklear will host the Festival of Arts and Pageant of the Masters’ season-ending gala and car give-away on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Since the festival began, patrons have purchased tickets in the hopes of winning a 2014 Acura RLX valued at $54,450. On Saturday at 8:15 p.m. Locklear will announce the winner. Tickets are still available.

Chef Azmin Ghahreman of Sapphire Laguna restaurant closes out the Festival of Arts cooking series on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m.

Ghahreman, who has cooked for kings, presidents and heads of state, will demonstrate some of

his favorite recipes and share samples with the audience. His motto is: “When you travel through the world’s markets with your palate, you don’t need a passport.”

“Sunday is your last chance to watch, learn, and sample delicious recipes from a culinary expert,” said Susan Davis, director of special events.

 

 

A New Lineup in Jazz Series

An all-star group led by trumpeter Bijon Watson will perform in the Rose Garden of Hotel Laguna, 425 S. Coast Highway on Wednesday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m.

He will be joined by Tom Luer, tenor saxophone; Adam Schroeder, baritone saxophone; Andy Langham, piano; Garrett Lang, bass; and Bill Wysaske, on drums.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Online tickets are sold out, but interested parties can get on the waiting list.

Next up by Laguna Beach Live is a bluegrass BBQ with Prairie Sky on Sunday, Sept. 15, at Aliso Creek Inn & Golf Course.

Live! Show Set for Re-broadcast

Jazz performer Billy Childs’ performance in Laguna Beach, the first taped for television broadcast by Laguna Beach Live, will run on public station KOCE-TV Channel 10 on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 11 p.m.

The show’s executive producer was local resident Sam Goldstein and was sponsored by Montage Laguna Beach.

Last year, the show received Telly Awards, honoring film and video productions by local and regional programmers.

 

A Chocolate Lover’s Treat
