The Laguna Beach High School surf team can hold their head high after the season opener against powerhouse San Clemente at T-Street last week.

For the second week in a row, the freshmen trio in girls shortboard owned. Kayla Coscino did some nice turns for fist place, while Destiny Thompson in second and Claire Kelly in third also looked really good getting several nice rides.

We had some very solid ripping by boys on shortboard with Noah North taking top honors. For Noah this is his first big win of the high school season following up an impressive first in the WSA over the weekend.

Others to standout were Zach Levine, Jeremy Shutts and Dante Madrigal taking thirds. Boys on longboards, Travis Booth, Trey Lockhart and Jake Levine, and girls Jameson Roller and Lola Fisher, while they didn’t get high results, they still were very close to scoring well.

Cole Fink once again was a standout for Laguna in the bodyboard placing third.

Next week the team hosts events at Thalia Street Beach against San Juan Hills on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and against Dana Hills either Thursday, Oct. 8 or possibly Tuesday, Oct 6.
