Breakers battled Mountain Pass League champion Tahquitz of Hemet to a 1-1 standoff, but failed to advance to the second round when they lost 4-3 in a shootout played last Friday, Feb. 19 at the Titan’s field.

Still the 12-5-5 final record is the best for a Laguna team in 35 seasons. Bill Rolfing’s 12th season with the girls has produced a consistently competitive program.

In the wild card contest held on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Guyer Field, Laguna rallied from a 1-1 halftime score to defeat Arrowhead Christian 3-1. Laguna got on the board first as Anika Pitz scored off a pass from Haylee Jarvis. The visitors received a gift near the intermission on a self-inflicted score.

Breakers broke the game open in 66th minute when Blake Turner scored with an assist by Emily Addis. Shea Skenderian scored the final goal off another Jarvis pass.
