Laguna clinched their eleventh straight league title last week with a 25-11, 25-7, 25-14 sweep of second place Calvary Chapel on Thursday, October 29 at the Calvary gym. Breaker serving proved to be the difference with Katelyn Carballo and Kendyl Brennan in set one, Jamie Robbins and Aspen Rocha in set two while Jaynie Hexberg was the leader in the third set.
Laguna has now won 36 league titles in the past 43 seasons.
Last Friday the Breakers hosted their annual Alumni match at Dugger Gym. The varsity’s tough serving was instrumental in their 25-15, 25-17, 15-2 win over the “Artists”. Cammie DeGeus, a starter from the 1996 D-I CIF title squad led the Alumni along with Wendy Whiting and Martina Speare.
