Discussion group begins Jan. 19

Great Decisions, an eight-week series of discussion sessions on various global topics that is open to the public, will begin on Jan. 19. A program of the Foreign Policy Association, Great Decisions is co-sponsored in Laguna Beach by the League of Women Voters and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

The discussions are designed to engender a better understanding of the global issues affecting America’s role in the world and to offer an example of the role citizens can play in discovering, discussing, and deciding how some of the world’s greatest challenges can be met.

Each year the Foreign Policy Association selects eight topics that are outlined in a briefing book that provides essential background, relevant facts, present and future policy options, and impartial analyses to help participants assess those challenges.

In Laguna Beach, participants can attend either an afternoon or an evening session. Both are held at the UU Fellowship, located at 429 Cypress. The afternoon group meets at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, beginning Jan. 26, and continuing for eight consecutive weeks. The evening group meets at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays, beginning on Jan. 19.  For further information, call Jean Raun at 494-2247.
