Tail’s Splash Boosts Marine Education
The California Coastal Commission awarded $541,000 to 28 marine education projects this fiscal year, funded by sales of the whale tail license plate.
To date, over 204,000 Californians have purchased the plate, initially created by the artist Wyland and more recently co-designed by Laguna artist Bill Atkins.
Local recipients include Crystal Cove Alliance and Orange County Coastkeeper.
Local Non-profit Awarded
ZeroTrash, the Laguna Beach-based anti-litter effort, was awarded a $5000 grant from Keep America Beautiful and local partner, Waste Management Inc. Funds will be deployed to open ZeroTrash Communities Inland.
