The bicycle safety committee of Newport Beach voted Monday, May 7, to install bicycle safety sharrows on Pacific Coast Highway. In related developments, the Planning Commission of Laguna Beach met for the first time to begin the “Visioning Process” for Complete Streets in Laguna Beach. Despite five years of informal discussions and three years of recommendations given to Laguna Beach City Council in task force meetings, the Planning Commission is starting from scratch.
Norm Grossman admitted adopting progressive changes in Laguna Beach was a slow process but the commission would work as fast as possible to get-job-done. The chair of the new Complete Streets Task Force was not present at the meeting.
