Local Laguna Beach children spent Veteran’s Day selling lemonade outside the apartment complex where they live and raised over $100, which they donated to a non-profit that helps veterans, Patriotic Hearts.

HirePatriots.com, part of the organization’s community outreach program, was established in 2005 by former Laguna Beach resident Mark Baird after a veteran knocked on the door of his Oceanside home and asked for work.

The site allows local patriots to share information about their community and its job board has helped over 100,000 veterans find employment. The mission is to create support systems and employment for veterans by creating community supported websites nationwide.

Patriotic Hearts received the Congressional Medal of Merit and The President’s Volunteer Service Medal from Presidents Bush and Obama, respectively.
