Christmas came early this year for Laguna Beach High School’s athletic programs with a surprise donation of $25,000.  The donation from the Hexberg Family Foundation was given to SchoolPower and earmarked for distribution to all sports programs at the high school.

“We are fortunate to be able to help support the student athletes, coaches and numerous sports programs at LBHS who collectively continue to make our community proud,” said Greg Hexberg. “Excellence doesn’t happen without hard work and the proper tools to get the job done.  We are happy to contribute to that,”

SchoolPower president and LBHS alum, Marcus Skenderian, adds, “The Hexberg Family Foundation’s donation could not come at a better time for Laguna schools.  This money will have a huge impact on a lot of kids, and will also resonate throughout the community as a whole.”

Through the generosity of other parents and local businesses, SchoolPower was able to donate over $697,000 to public schools in the previous school year. Programs in arts, sports and foreign language as well as class size reduction are beneficiaries.

“Thank you to all who value our public schools and give so generously.  In these tough times, it takes all of us to keep our schools great,” said Skenderian.
