High School Alum, Actress Takes the Stage in L.A.

Laguna Beach High School graduate Amanda Saunders is featured in the upcoming premiere of “Firemen” opening Friday, Feb. 7, at Los Angeles’ Atwater Village Theatre.

Saunders directed plays and taught drama classes for 10 years at Laguna Beach High School; she currently lives in Corona del Mar with her husband and young daughter.

Saunders graduated from Princeton University where she majored in religion and was co-captain of the tennis team. She received her masters in fine arts in acting from San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater.

Saunders has performed on stage, in film and in television, including as a grocery-shopper turned sword-wielding Orc in a popular Mountain Dew/World of Warcraft spot.  Her television credits include “The Show Formerly Known as the Martin Short Show” and “All My Children.” Her film credits include “Boxboarders!”, a local favorite directed by Rob Hedden, and most recently, the indie feature, “Faults.”

“Firemen,” an Echo Theater company production, runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 7 p.m., Feb. 8 – March 16. Tickets are $25. Atwater Village Theatre is located at 3269 Casitas Ave.
