Football

80th Varsity Season – Breakers Open on Sept. 5 at Bolsa Grande

Laguna is favored to win in the season opener, hoping to pick up their fourth straight season opening victory. Breakers return home on Friday, Sept. 12, with a 7 p.m. contest against University, one of the weaker Pacific Coast League schools. Trojans still lead the all-time series 21-4-1 and it should be a competitive game. Laguna’s final three non-league contests could be a reach for the Breakers. Westminster is ranked second in Laguna’s division Southern (D-12), St. Margaret’s is top ranked in its East Valley Division (D-13), and Northwood is unranked in the Southwest Division (D-4) even after blasting Estancia 34-6 last week.

Girls Golf

Non-league play opened on Sept. 3 and the first league matches are Sept. 24 at Costa Mesa.

Girls Volleyball

Breakers open season with Santa Margarita, Corona del Mar on Tuesday

Laguna’s challenging schedule started at Santa Margarita this past Thursday, Sept. 4, and the test continues against the Sea Queens at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9. Breakers are at home on Thursday, Sept. 11, with J Serra then compete in the 35th Dave Mohs/Orange County Championships on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13. The Mohs tournament will have 32 teams this season with all the top 10 county teams competing. Pool play schedule will be released on Sept. 9.

Girls Tennis

Season Starts on Sept. 5 at San Juan Hills.

Laguna’s 41th season of CIF sponsored girls tennis opened this Friday, Sept. 5., at San Juan Hills. League play starts on Sept. 23.

Boys Water Polo

Breakers’ season begins Sept. 9 at Cathedral Catholic

Poloists are the highest ranked Laguna team this fall with a third-place Orange County ranking and a top Division 3 placement in the Southern Section polls. Breakers won’t be home at the cozy Laguna Community Pool until Oct. 2 when they host Orange Lutheran at 4 p.m.
