United Methodist Church

 

Neighbors and visitors are invited to worship with the United Methodist congregation during the Good Friday Service, April 22, at 7 p.m., with the Rev. Cynthia K. Williams and Rev. Douglas H. Williams.

UMC conducts the 6 a.m. Easter Sunrise Service at Main Beach on April 24  (Bring blankets and  chairs!) A 10 a.m. Easter Celebration follows in the sanctuary, 21632 Wesley Drive, (behind Albertson’s).

In addition, Sunday School will host an Eggstravaganza: Children explore the tradition and wonder of this symbol of Easter.

 

Laguna Presbyterian

Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Avenue, on Good Friday, April 22, holds a noontime service of the cross with special music by the Chancel Quartet, Bells, instrumentalists and soloists. Nursery and childcare will be provided.

 

St. Mary’s Episcopal

All members of the community are welcome to participate in any or all of the services planned at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 428 Park Avenue, during Holy Week. April 22, Friday: Good Friday Services, 12 noon and 7 p.m.

April 24, Easter Sunday: Sunrise Easter Vigil: 5:30 a.m.; Easter Choral Festival, 10:30 a.m.

 

Neighborhood Congregational Church

Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, invites all to deepen their walk with God by attending services of worship.

On Good Friday, April 22, the church will open the labyrinth in Bridge Hall from 12-6.  Scripture readings and short meditative prayers will be available for those who wish to spend time in walking meditation in this ancient celtic tradition.

On Good Friday evening, April 22, the Tenebrae service at 7 p.m. will move from light to darkness in remembrance of Jesus leaving the world.

On Easter Sunday, April 24, the church hosts a 6:30 a.m. community sunrise service at Alta Laguna Park suffused with Native American spirituality, including flute and drumming.

A festive Easter service at 10 a.m. on April 24 will be in the church sanctuary with as dancers and singer Nicolas Leighton. Handbell music directed by Jennifer Baker, choral music led by Pam Wicks, and familiar Easter songs for all will enliven the festivities.  Following worship, refreshments will be served across the courtyard in Bridge Hall and children are invited to join in the annual Easter Egg hunt on the Montessori playground.
