I want to thank Daniella Walsh for writing about the open mic event for writers at Laguna Beach Books and mentioning me in her article about the event, which was published in the Jan. 30 edition entitled, “Book Store Welcomes Spoken Word Readings.”
I hope it generates more attendees. I’ve been to a couple previous open mic events at Laguna Beach Books that were actually better attended and had more readers, but the more publicity the better!
We need to support our local writers, who are quite talented. There were a few superb stories; my favorite was the one by Dennis Lockwood, which Daniella recognized. And as I said, I was surprised and very happy with her kind words about my story, “Ol’ Blue Eyes Turned to Gold.” It was encouraging because it is sometimes hard to “read” an audience when you’re up there reading, which can be a little daunting.
