I want to thank you on behalf of the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club and the Laguna Beach Branch of the American Association of University Women for putting Susan Velasquez’s “Wisdom Workout” column on the Woman of the Year celebration in the June 14 LB Indy.
It was a fabulous celebration with 75 people in attendance and Susan captured the essence and spirit of it so well. The honoree was Peggie Thomas, an “unsung hero” and longtime resident of Laguna Beach who many years ago helped start TLC, The Learning Club, program at El Morro School then under the Principalship of Dr. Joanne Culverhouse. The TLC is an after school learning program with teaching help from volunteers who work with children who can benefit from a little extra help with academic work. It is much loved and much appreciated by all.
Thanks for keeping us aware of the many good things that are going on in Laguna Beach involving so many caring people serving others. They are also our “unsung heros” and we honor them too.
