Margaret Warder, a Top of the World Elementary intervention assistant, is one of five members of the California School Employees Association singled out for recognition statewide. She was recognized at this week’s school board meeting as well.

“When I received the call that I was selected as the member of the year award in the para-educator category by CSEA, I was speechless,” said Warder. “This honor validates the decision I made 11 years ago to redirect my professional life towards working with students while living and working in the community I love and raising my daughter, Sabrina Johnson.”

A registered nurse, Warder joined the district in 2003 and likes teaching about the value of reading, comprehension and vocabulary.

Warder has served as president for seven years of Chapter 131 CSEA, which represents non-teaching staff. CSEA, which represents 200,000 school district workers statewide, will confer the award at an annual conference in July.
