Laguna Beach High seniors Rory Saunders and Chris Tellez ask parents and students in town to clean their closets of discarded soccer jerseys and other soccer gear, which they will collect through Jan. 21. Collection boxes were to be placed in schools this week.

With the help of Dave Day of Laguna Beach-based Growers First, which helps small coffee growers work collectively, the boys founded Laguna’s Score 4 the Poor as a community service project four years ago. They have since collected over 1,500 soccer jerseys, which have been sent to El Salvador, Mexico and Honduras.

“Rory and Chris have outfitted the children of five villages…with uniforms. They are doing global work,” Day said in a statement.
