Longtime Laguna Beach resident Kenneth Rogers was fatally injured on Tuesday, June 5, when his vehicle went over an embankment in Encinitas.

Rogers was born on June 12, 1938, in Barberton, Ohio. His family moved in 1947 to Monrovia, Calif., where Ken attended high school. He also graduated from Pasadena City College and afterwards  joined the Army.

Upon discharge, Rogers worked as an insurance loss investigator and later moved to Laguna Beach and opened Nova Travel. After selling the business, Rogers worked independently as a travel representative until retiring in 2002.

Rogers is survived by a sister, Jean and her husband; a niece and a nephew. Rogers was active in Laguna Beach and is sorely missed by his many friends.
