Last year’s efforts also helped the orphanage, hit by a decline in donations.

First- through fourth-grade students at the Community Learning Center will hold their fourth annual Car Wash and Bake Sale to benefit children at the Door of Faith Orphanage from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, in the school district parking lot at 550 Blumont Street at Park Avenue.

The cost is $10 per car and $15 for large vehicles, such as trucks and SUVs. Advance tickets are available and can be purchased from any CLC family or by contacting Pieter Wolters at [email protected] or (949) 27-5319. Additional donations will be gratefully accepted at the CLC website: www.lbclc.org, or checks can be made out to CLC PTA and mailed to or dropped off at to 515 El Bosque, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.

Every dollar will be sent to the Door of Faith Orphanage, o in Baja California’s La Mision Valley, which feeds, houses, clothes and educates more than 100 children and babies. The orphanage is completely dependent on charity and is feeling the pinch from many volunteer groups canceling their visits.

“The costs of running the orphanage are substantial,” said CLC parent Pieter Wolters, who said it’s a CLC spring tradition for the children to connect with those less fortunate across the border. “Because of the turmoil that has wreaked havoc with the economy in Baja California, we decided it’s more important than ever to continue this tradition,” he added. 1. Thank you so much for spreading the word and all the help. I help run Door of Faith Orphanage in La Mision Baja, the help being sent down means more now than ever before. The dollars raised go a long way to help care for our kids and to help change lives. We could not do this without groups like Community Learning Center.

    Thank you
