A new bell schedule at Laguna Beach High School will add 22 instructional hours to the next school year, said Assistant Principal Lisa Brackez, who outlined plans to the school board.

The new bell schedule includes an increase in instructional minutes to 64,800 minutes per year from 63,461.

A committee comprised of students, staff and parents met several times during the year, conducted a survey and devised a bell schedule based on research and the survey feedback, she said.

The school day will now end at 2:35 p.m. Monday through Friday. School will begin at 7:30 a.m. during final exam days and the new schedule includes an advisory class period for students on Thursdays and Fridays.
