Letter Writer is Overly Judgmental

I’m surprised you would publish as mean-spirited a letter as was the one from Michael Rybah you titled “Pedestrians Need to Step Up Vigilance, Too“.  Although he was at times trying to be funny, or was it sarcasm, he obviously does not know what it is like to be hit or to hit someone who was not there just seconds ago.

I do not know Dani Traci, but I would never assume that she was distracted by her phone.

Who is he to judge her and to state that “the injuries she sustained could have easily been prevented by her”? Was he present? He seems to have a beef with pedestrians.

None of us appreciate those who put themselves and others in danger by not using common sense or by breaking laws, but for him to personally attack her was wrong.

“We decline to publish letters that we perceive as personal attacks…” is published in the LB Indy. I feel you failed to uphold your own standard. Would you have published his letter if Dani was one of your loved ones? How do you think she felt reading this?

  1. Carmen you are SO on point with the tone of the letter by Michael Rybah. I could barely read the entirety of his letter without wondering if he is one of those “Range Rover driving, California-stopping, get-out-of-my-way, burn this planet, I’m #1, my God is the only God kinda guy”……

But then again that makes me sound just like him.

Drivers: SLOW down. WATCH the road.

Pedestrians: WATCH OUT! Use designated crosswalks(but STILL watch out).

Everyone: Be kind. Love others as you love yourself. Understand vehicles are thousands of pounds of moving steel and people weigh much less and break easily.

Laguna Police Force: spend some of that grant money to truly enforce the existing laws of the road and be a more visible positive presence.
