Library Hosts ‘American Grotesque’ Author

Larry Lytle, author of “American Grotesque: The Life and Art of William Mortensen,” will speak at Laguna Beach Library, 363 Glenneyre St., at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 28.

Lytle’s work is a retrospective of images by Mortensen, a Laguna Beach resident and Hollywood photographer who pioneered technical innovations and inspired use of special effects predating modern day digital manipulation and Photoshop.

Lytle is also wrote a second book about Mortensen, “The Command To Look: A Master Photographer’s Method for Controlling the Human Gaze
