Morgan Stanley Defeats Legion 16-8

Little League’s AAA division team Morgan Stanley defeated American Legion when the teams faced off March 15 at Riddle Field.

 

Cameron Garcia started as pitcher for American Legion allowing only six runs with seven strikeouts in the first three innings. Morgan Stanley’s Cole Fink hit a double in the first to bring home Nolan Smith and Luc LaMontagne. Fink hit another double in the third to score La Montagne and Josh Mc Manus. Jacob Thornton squeezed in a triple and then stole home.

 

With Nick Carpino pitching, American Legion’s Garcia hit Trey Lockhart in to score and stole home in the first. Garcia hit Lockhart in again in the third. Wesley Witteman and Brandon Schwendel both had two RBI’s to bring American Legion’s score to 7-6. Carpino had four strikeouts.

 

Morgan Stanley’s bats were hot in the fourth and fifth innings. Jackson Yelland started off the fourth with a bunt. McManus then hit a triple, bringing Dylan Brashier, Mason Lebby and Nolan Smith home.  Mc Manus then stole home. Joseph Sweet’s single brought in Fink, to end the inning leaving Thonton and VanRiette on base.

 

Carpino, Yelland, Brahier, Lebby and LaMontagne scored in the fifth to give Morgan Stanley 16.  Lockhart, Brandon Schwendel, Jared Angus, and Daniel Nash finished out the game pitching for American Legion. Jared Angus stole home in the fifth to give Legion eight.

 

Josh McManus and Nolan Smith, with one strike out each, and Cole Fink with two, finished out the game pitching for Morgan Stanley.
