Laguna Beach Live! presents YuEun Kim and Etienne Gara performing at 7 p.m. in the Laguna Art Museum Thursday, Aug. 10.

Born in South Korea, violinist Kim attends the USC Thornton School of Music. French-born violinist Gara has performed extensively since making his orchestral solo debut in 2005 with the Savaria Symphony Orchestra in Hungary. Gara is the artistic director of the Open Academy Orchestra in Los Angeles.

Concerts on the Green Enrich the Festival Experience

Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jane Lynch returns to the Festival of Arts to perform “See Jane Sing,” a musical comedy cabaret show at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5.

Accompanied by a five-piece band, Lynch will show off her musical chops and comedic wit and charm. Her performance will include songs from Broadway to cabaret.

‘A Night with Janis Joplin’ Returns to Playhouse

The Tony-nominated rock and roll musical, “A Night with Janis Joplin,” will begin previews at the Laguna Playhouse on Wednesday, Aug. 16, and will open Sunday, Aug. 20, with a 5:30 p.m. performance. The show will run through Sunday, Sept. 10, at the theater, 606 Laguna Canyon Road.

Featuring “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” and “Mercedes Benz,” the show celebrates the artist and her biggest musical influences, icons such as Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone, and Bessie Smith.

Performances will be at 7: 30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays, and 1 p.m. Sundays. There will be no Thursday performances on Aug. 24 at 2 p.m. and an additional Sunday performance Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Selanne Chef Deemed a Culinary Visionary

Joshua Severson, executive chef of Selanne Steak Tavern since 2013, was named a culinary visionary by the American Liver Foundation and will be recognized at its October gala for his support.

Flavors of Orange County showcases signature dishes of area chefs invited to participate. Each chef will create a five-course dinner for one table of 12 guests.
