Racer Sets Record in Formula 3 Testing

Michael Lewis

Laguna race car driver Michael Lewis set fast times during testing last month at Italy’s Mugello Circuit. Racing his PREMA Powerteam Dallara, Lewis earned P-1, but also became the only Formula 3 Italia driver to break the 1:39 barrier at the track, with his time of 1:38:989.

“My engineer Fabio Zilio had the car perfect from the very beginning so I could concentrate on going fast and not making mistakes, and I was able to get the most out of a new set of tires,” said Lewis, who has dreamed of racing on the Mugello track since he first visited several years ago.

The opening round of the 2011 Formula 3 Italia Championship begins May 15.
