Local Boy Grow Into a Fulbright Scholar

Everett Alexander Heiney.

Everett Alexander Heiney, son of Dr. and Mrs. Terry Heiney of Laguna Beach, will receive a Fulbright teaching assistantship to the republic of Georgia, one of 1600 college seniors selected for a U.S. Student Fulbright award annually.

A government major at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, Heiney served as editor-in-chief of the campus literary magazine, the Port Side, as a Harrison Fellow at the Salvatori Center, and as the S3 in charge of operations and training for the Army ROTC Golden Lions Battalion.

Following his Fulbright year, Heiney will begin training in field artillery to fulfill his commission as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
