Wave of Volunteers Sweeps Beaches Clean

The Clean Water Now! Coalition will be conducting its quarterly summer beach cleanup Saturday, June 18, at Aliso Creek County Beach and welcomes volunteer participates from 8 a.m. to noon.

BYOB, that is bring your own bucket or bag, says coalition organizer Roger Butow.

Volunteers will team up with sponsors from Hearts of Montage, Laguna Beach Girl Scout Troop 789,  Trading Places International vacation services and members of Lion’s Heart, devoted to youth volunteerism.

Mortgage Insights on Tap for Biz Club

Mortgage broker Rick Cirelli will speak to the Laguna Beach Business Club at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, at Hotel Laguna. The cost of breakfast is $25.

Cirelli, a 35-year veteran of the mortgage business, will discuss why the market has yet to improve and mortgage underwriting guidelines.

Local Nonprofit Greets the Globe with Grins

Having delivered more than 30,000 toothbrushes worldwide in its first 60 days, nonprofit Global Grins held its first public event to celebrate its launch and announce a goal to deliver more than 100,000 toothbrushes to in its first year of operation.

The vision of Laguna Beach residents Todd and Joselyn Miller, Global Grins promises to address oral hygiene and its connection to personal health and self-esteem. “We wanted to give back by supplying those in need with something that was simple, yet would have a positive impact on many lives around the world,” said co-founder Mrs. Miller.

The organization’s inaugural fundraiser netted more than $10,000 from nearly 200 friends and supporters, including some who delivered toothbrushes worldwide as part of the group’s delivery squads.
