Sixteen year old Alex Murphy of Laguna Beach and partner Myranda Cunningham of Tustin played in the CBVA Manhattan Beach Tour Stop last Saturday and made it to the championship match. Over 50 teams of two competed in the 16 and under division. Murphy and Cunningham were undefeated in pool play and won the first round, quarter final and semi final to advance to the championship contest. After falling behind early, Murphy and Cunningham made a late game push bringing the score to 14-16. They eventually lost to a tough team. Murphy is a student at Laguna Beach High School and plays indoor volleyball with Laguna’s 900 Square Feet Volleyball Club. Cunningham is a student at Beckman High School.
