Doris McQuaid, a member of Laguna Beach’s Soroptimist International, and her husband rode their bikes 100 miles from Carmel to Hearst Castle last month to support Best Buddies, an organization founded by Maria Shriver to support those with emotional and developmental disabilities.
The locals designed a polkadot jersey for the event, which Shriver stopped to admire, bragged McQuaid, who with her husband raised $2,850 for the event.
The club celebrates its 65th year improving the lives of women and girls locally and cumulative contributions of more than $1 million.
