Laguna Beach residents Carol Lloyd and Shari Yamamoto recently returned from Zomba, Malawi, where they led workshops with preschool teachers from 12 area preschools and led two days of parenting classes.

Their host sub-Saharan African Family Enrichment, which was started by Dick and Charlotte Day, formerly of Newport Beach, has been working in Malawi for over 25 years teaching at Chancellor University, developing preschools and supporting AIDS prevention programs.

Lloyd and Yamamoto are part of the Gogo Grandparent ministry in Malawi, that gives support to grandparents raising children whose parents died of AIDS. Little Church by the Sea and a woman’s bible study in Three Arch Bay supports it.
