Multi-award winning oil painter Elizabeth McGhee kicks-off LOCA’s monthly Art Club talk

Thursday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. at Delgado Gallery, 1550 S. Coast Highway.

McGhee will share stories about the Greek myths behind her portrait series, and the swap meet finds that inspire her still lifes.

LOCA members are admitted free to all regular art club events. Guests and visitor admission is $20 per event.

Art Exhibit Raises Awareness of Precious Resource

The Irvine Museum presents “The Nature of Water: Our Most Precious Resource,” Jan. 30 -June 16, at 18881 Von Karman Ave.

The exhibition featuring a selection of California landscape paintings will convey scenes of California’s historically scarce and most precious resource.

The exhibition features 60 works by 32 artists that documents the perpetual natural cycle of water by artists such as Mischa Askenazy, Franz Bischoff, Granville Redmond, Paul Grimm, Guy Rose, and Karl Yens, among others.

The exhibition will also feature loans from collections by Mark and Jan Hilbert and Edward H. and Yvonne J. Boseker.

Admission is free as is parking with a validation from the museum.

Learn to Watercolor

A botanical-themed watercolor workshop series, led by Lydia Delgado in her gallery, 1550 S. Coast Highway, began Thursday, Jan. 14, and continues through April.

Artists Invited to Design A Bench

The city’s Arts Commission is currently accepting pitches for a $50,000 bench project in Heisler Park near Monument Point.

Artists are invited to submit images of previous installations and their public art resume. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 16.

Grant Process Underway for Cultural Arts Funds

The city’s Arts Commission is currently accepting grant applications from non-profit organizations with existing cultural programming in Laguna Beach.
