“Exquisite Abandon: Contemporary Miniature Works,” an exhibition of works of art rendered in miniature, opens with an artist’s reception from 6-9 p.m. for First Thursday Art Walk, April 6 at the LCAD Gallery, 374 Ocean Ave.

Crystal Cove Sets Spring Art Show        

A spring art show in Crystal Cove State Park kicks off with a 5-7 p.m. reception Friday, March 31.

The Art in the Park Celebration continues on Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the historic district, which will host workshops, performances, and activities that integrate art and nature.

Admission is free. Registration is required at crystalcovealliance.org.

The public is invited to meet bronze chess sculptor Mark Nordquist and impasto painter Charles Pabst during the Thursday, April 6, Artwalk from 6-9 p.m. at Signature Gallery, at 220 Forest Ave.

Alongside the paintings of Pabst, will be large animal-themed chess pieces cast in bronze by Nordquist. Each set sits on a custom chessboard hand-crafted from stone and exotic woods.
