Laguna Beach police issued 40 citations for crosswalk right-of-way violations as well as written and verbal warnings during a cross walk enforcement detail.

The effort to raise motorist awareness about pedestrian safety took place at numerous crosswalks on North and South Coast Highway on Wednesday April 23.

“A pedestrian takes a good deal of risk at some of these crosswalks,” said Tom Berndt, who watched from his office in South Laguna where motor officers could not even keep up with all the abusers.
