Attorney and Laguna Beach resident Robert “Hoot” J. Gibson, a partner in Snell & Wilmer’s Orange County office, became a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers at an induction ceremony recently held in San Antonio, Texas.

Founded in 1950, the American College of Trial Lawyers is by invitation only to lawyers with a minimum of 15 years of trial experience, who are masters of advocacy as well as of the highest professional standards. There are currently 5,863 members in the U.S. and Canada.

Gibson is an alumnus of the University of Arizona College of Law, and served as a law clerk to Justice Frank X. Gordon in the Supreme Court of Arizona. He also served five years as a captain in the U.S. Army, where he received numerous medals.

He specializes in product liability, commercial, and environmental litigation and represents manufacturers in product liability litigation involving motor vehicles, pharmaceuticals, aircraft, and machinery.

Baruch D. Kuppermann, of Laguna Beach, received a visionary award from the Foundation Fighting Blindness during Dining in the Dark, a March 17 benefit attended by 300 people that raised $425,000 for treatments and cures for blindness caused by retinal diseases.
