Laguna Outreach for Community Arts invites the public to its Art Squared fundraising event at the Laguna Beach Woman’s Club this Sunday, March 20, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

More than 40 original works, created by local business owners, noted citizens, and community leaders, are set for auction during the event, 286 St. Anne’s Drive, which also includes wine, hors d’ouvres, opportunity drawings, and live music by Jason Feddy.

LOCA, which provides arts education programs throughout Laguna Beach, created the Art Squared program to highlight the skills of its instructors.  Mostly non-artist citizens were paired with instructors in classes held throughout February. All works were done in a square shape in mediums including printmaking, ceramics, glass, mixed media, watercolor and acrylic.

Rebecca Barber, co-owner of Studio Arts Gallery, will serve as honorary chair of the fundraising event. “I loved taking my Art Squared class,” said Barber, “the LOCA instructors really made it easy. I learned a lot and my piece came out better than expected!” she said.

Instructors were Tom Swimm, Jacquie Moffatt, Roger Folk, Sherry Bullard, Mada Leach, Sherry Salito-Forsen, Betty Haight, Linda Velasco, Valerie Gorrell, Carolyn Machado, and Sue Linder.

Participants, including Lisa Mansour, Pat Kollenda, Ashley Johnson, and Gunther Franz, donated their works to LOCA for the auction. Opening bids will start at $50.

Admission is $40 in advance. Email [email protected] or call (949) 363-4700.
