The public is invited to join the oldest holiday in human history on Tuesday, Dec. 21, or MMX CE by the Gregorian Civil Calendar.

Kindred spirits are invited to meet at Laguna’s Main Beach at 4:38 p.m. to savor the sunset on the shortest day of the year and welcome light’s return marked by the Winter Solstice.

Celebrants will gather at BC Space gallery for music, art, food, drink, merriment, and reflections. This year’s celebration will feature a performance of “Circling” by performance artist Barbara Berk at 6:48 p.m. followed by the musings of Laguna’s poet laureate John Gardiner. The principals of Endangered Planet will also join in.
