The only pallet selected in this year’s Holiday Palette Competition was a design made by Sean Tiner based on a photograph he took in Heisler Park.

“I wanted to make the sunset color surreal and abstract to reflect the holiday cheer of the season,” Tiner explained.

In its 47th year the invitational competition is judged anonymously by the nine members of the Laguna Beach Arts Commission. The winning palettes are displayed on lampposts throughout the city during the holidays.

Tiner, whose work has also been featured in Surfer Magazine and at the Sawdust Festival, was inspired and encouraged by his father Peter, retired Laguna Beach High School art teacher. He will receive a $500 honorarium from the city of Laguna Beach.
