Pageant of the Masters makeup director Allyson Doherty will show how costumes are specially constructed and painted for artistic stage effects during a LOCA Arts Education workshop Sunday, Sept. 25.
The 11 a.m.-1p.m. demonstration takes place on the Sawdust Festival grounds.
Pageant veteran Paul Goldie will serve as the live model.

Step Into Italy Without Leaving Home
Pacific Edge Gallery exhibits “Old World Impressions,” paintings from Italy by Bryan Mark Taylor, and hosts an artist reception Saturday, Sept. 24, from 5 to 8 p.m.
The exhibits features 30 new oils painted on location and inspired by his travels in Rome and Umbria. The show will continue through Nov. 4.
Festival Opens for 2017 Hopefuls
The Festival of Arts is accepting applications for next summer’s exhibition. Applicants should submit three digital images per media and a completed application by 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, which is available online at www.foapom.com/apply.
Applicants must demonstrate a year of residency prior to Oct. 31.
A seminar on the application process will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Saddleback Church Visual Arts Studio in Lake Forest, and at 10 a.m.Saturday, Oct. 8, at Wells Fargo Community Room, Laguna Beach.

A free arts marketing workshop for arts organizations is set for Oct. 7.
