I started riding a bicycle out of necessity because of my medical condition. Now I am proud to be someone who uses a bicycle for primary transportation. More people seem to be doing the same.
So many Laguna Beach residents live within walking or riding distance of shopping districts. Shop local and get some exercise while you burn calories instead of gas. Give new meaning to bringing your own bag at the market. I safely pack a dozen eggs in my backpack, no problem.
The ride home should also be safe. Sharrows on Coast Highway will be a challenge, but placing them in key locations will encourage more people to ride not drive. Sharrows in North Laguna is peddling in the right direction. Take cars off the roads and keep the wheel rolling by walking or riding (trust me, it can also be a lot of fun!).
