Community Foundation Gets New Board Members

Laguna Beach Community Foundation’s executive director Dan Pingaro announced the appointment of three Laguna locals,Mandi Dossin, Rob Harryman and Angie Miller to their board of trustees.

Dossin is partner and general managerof Santa Ana’s DGWB Advertising & Communications. Harryman is a CPA and will serve as the Community Foundation’s treasurer. Miller owns Miller and Associates, which specializes in corporate advertising, design and promotions and is the vice president of Fun is First, Inc., a destination management and corporate event planning company.

 

 

 

 

New Pastor to Step Into Methodist Pulpit

Rev. Mandy Flemming will be the new pastor at Laguna Beach United Methodist Church starting July 1.

Flemming was appointed by Bishop Minerva Carcano. Currently, the congregation is being led by interim Pastor, Mary Scifres, a local resident.

Flemming currently is serving as a minister at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Ga., and has served as a pastor of two other small churches.

Flemming’s experience includes family and children’s ministries, including drama and music programs.

She received her masters of divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in May 2003. She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology and Christian thought from Oglethorpe University, Atlanta, in May 2000.

A talented musician, Flemming plays guitar and piano and has trained vocally in sacred music at Westminster Choir College, in Princeton, N.J. While at Princeton, she won the David Allen Weadon Prize in sacred music.

She and her husband, Matt, have two sons, Jackson and Cooper, and a daughter, Sloan, as well as a beagle named Edgar.

 

 

 

Mortuary Leader Gains Industry Post

Neil P. O’Connor, president and chief executive of Laguna Beach’s more than century-old O’Connor Mortuary, was elected to represent Western North America for Selected Independent Funeral Homes, a group of independently owned funeral homes.

“Because of Selected, I have great resources at my fingertips and the ability to share best practices and critical issues with the best of the best,” said O’Connor, of San Juan Capistrano.

 

 

 

Insurer Burnishes Her Status

Cheryl Binns, owner of an Allstate Insurance office at 31601 Coast Highway in Laguna Beach, has been designated an Allstate Premier Agency.

The designation signifies outstanding business performance and customer commitment.
