Hotel Manager Joins Gastronomy Group
Hotel Laguna Chief Operating Officer Heinz Hofmann was elected as chancelier national with the Chaine des Rôtisseurs, a gastronomy association in 70 countries.
Hofmann previously worked as a manager of the Westin and Fairmont hotel chains and La Quinta Country Club.
Local Librarian Departs
Adult services librarian Jim McCarty resigned earlier this month from his longtime post with Laguna Beach’s branch of the county library system.
McCarty left without explanation, librarian Jon Gilliom said this week.
Local Doctor Wins Statewide Recognition
California Academy of Family Physicians Foundation named the Laguna Beach Community Clinic medical director, Thomas C. Bent, preceptor of the year. The award annually celebrates those who train medical students and family medicine residents in their practices.
“This award honors more than the training encounter,” said CAFP President Del Morris. “It also celebrates the time and commitment our preceptors and mentors give to the future of our specialty.”
“He opened my eyes to the possibilities of family medicine,” said a family medicine scholar who trained with Dr. Bent this year.
