City’s Promoter Elects New Lead

Peggy Trott, general manager of Inn at Laguna Beach, will lead Visit Laguna Beach, the non-profit responsible for promoting tourism announced in a statement.

Hospitality leaders oversee the organization’s objectives, strengthening a nearly half a billion-dollar tourism industry in Laguna Beach. Its visitors center at 381 Forest Ave. is open daily.

“By working as part of a committed team, I am confident that we will continue to effectively market Laguna Beach as a year-round destination as we move forward in 2015,” said Trott in a statement. She succeeds founding chair Karyn Philippsen, who continues as one of the five at-large board members.

Established in 1986 to target overnight visitors under a city contract, Visit Laguna Beach marketing efforts help generate transient occupancy and sales tax revenue, which support city services and the town’s cultural organizations.

Ashley Johnson is director of brand marketing and communications for Visit Laguna Beach.

Other officers of the organization include Kurt Bjorkman, general manager of The Ranch at Laguna Beach, Joanna Bear of the Surf & Sand Resort and Heinz Hofmann of Hotel Laguna.
