Crosscultural Council Hires its First Director
Mary G. Schmidt has been named the first executive director of the Laguna Beach Crosscultural Council, which supports the day workers center in Laguna Canyon and La Playa Center, which teaches English as a second language to the parents of preschoolers.
Schmidt will be responsible for revitalizing the organization and increasing its public awareness and managing its day-to-day operations.

Sapphire Hires Operations Director
Dieter Hissin has been appointed director of operation at Sapphire Culinary Group, brands founded by Chef Azmin Ghahreman, which include Sapphire Laguna restaurant, its pantry, catering and consulting businesses.
Hissin will work on expansion. He most recently worked for The Balboa Bay Club & Resort and Island Hotel of Newport Beach.
Laguna Local Moves Up the Ranks
Laguna Beach local Steve Unterberger earned a promotion from Carrick Capital Partners to managing director of operations.
Carrick, based in San Francisco, provides investment and growth expertise to companies.
