Local Named to Hotel Laguna Post

Danny Scher
Danny Scher

When Danny Scher first moved to Laguna Beach in 1979, Benny the Bum’s Diner and the Ivy House were competitors of Hotel Laguna’s restaurant. Now, 36 years later, Hotel Laguna’s restaurant still thrives with   Scher in the newly promoted position of food and beverage director.

Scher joined the hotel as restaurant manager in 2013 after a three-year leave from the restaurant industry to aid his aging grandparents. He’s delighted to return to the bustle, especially at one of the last, family-run businesses in town.

“I love the old-time Laguna, where families are so committed to creating these experiences for locals and visitors,” says Scher, who previously worked as a server at 230 Forest, a bartender and assistant manager at the Saloon and bar manager at Sun Dried Tomato.

He works directly with Hotel Laguna’s General Manager Stefan Andersen and Executive Chef Robert Hines.
