Harry Lawrence Day, celebrated on Main Beach since 2009, this year was celebrated at a party hosted by Selanne Steak House, where a plaque was presented to Lawrence’s  widow, Zahide, which will be permanently installed outside the Tudor style building.

Lawrence came to Laguna Beach in 1947 and spent his life improving the community, serving twice as president of the Chamber of Commerce, which presented him a lifetime achievement award from the chamber, and founding the Laguna Beach Beautification Committee.

Lawrence also served as president of the Laguna Playhouse and served as Patriot Day Parade grand marshal.
