Laguna Beach’s girls volleyball squad, along with most of the club teams in the county, wrap up their club season before heading for the Junior Nationals in Columbus, Ohio, from June 28 through July 7. Non-qualifying squads attend a similar festival in Phoenix.
Laguna was 24-7 last fall, losing in the section semifinals to rival Corona del Mar and finishing among the top 20 teams in California. Next year, the pre-season begins with the Queens Court Tournament on Aug. 25-26 at the American Sports Center in Anaheim. Regular season matches start when Laguna hosts Norco on Aug. 30 at Dugger Gym. Non-league matches this season include J Serra, Santiago/Corona, Newport Harbor, Corona del Mar, Mira Costa, Long Beach Poly, and Dana Hills. Breakers participate in one-in-season tournament, The Mohs Orange County, Sept. 21-22.
