Many Venues to Hear Candidates Firsthand

Incumbent City Council members Elizabeth Pearson and Kelly Boyd this week endorsed fellow incumbent Jane Egly and challenger Robert Whalen in the election for Laguna’s City Council on Nov. 6. They host a meet and greet event at the Marine Room on Wednesday, Sept. 26.

Laguna Beach Republicans invite the public to its headquarters at 1476 S. Coast Highway, next to French 75 restaurant. Doors open at noon daily. Contact them at lagunabeachgop.com.

The Yes on Measure CC Campaign will hold a fund-raiser in support of the open space initiative appearing on this November’s local ballot. The event is Saturday, Sept. 29, 4-7 p.m., at the home of Brock and Marci Lyster, 607 Allview Place.

The cost is $125 per person. Small plates, wine, and music will be provided as well as an art display from Laguna Beach’s George Gallery. A percentage of art sales benefit the campaign. Valet parking will be available, though there is ample street parking.

Friday, Sept. 28: Council Candidate Forum, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, hosted by Laguna Beach Republicans and Taxpayers Association.

Tuesday, Oct. 2: Pros and Cons on the Ballot, Current Events Group, Susi Q Senior Center, 10 a.m., presented by the League of Women Voters.

Saturday, Oct. 6:  Pros and Cons on the Ballot,  Unitarian Univeralist Fellowship, 436 Cypress Dr., 10 a.m., also a League event.

Monday, Oct. 8: Council Candidates Forum, 7 p.m., South Coast Water District, 31592 West St., hosted by the So. Laguna Civic Assoc.

Wednesday, Oct. 10: Pros and Cons on the Ballot Issues:  Democratic Club, former Boom Boom Room, 7 p.m., presented by the League of Women Voters.

Thursday, Oct. 11: School Board Candidates Forum, Top of the World School, 7 p.m., co- sponsored by the League and the Parent Teachers Association.

Thursday, Oct. 11: Council Candidate Forum, 7 p.m., Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Dr., hosted by Transition Laguna.

Friday, Oct. 12:  City Council Candidates Forum, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, 505 Forest Ave.; sponsored by AAUW, Woman’s Club and League of Women Voters.

Friday, Oct. 19: 48th Congressional Candidates Forum, 7 p.m., Council Chambers, also organized by the League.

Tuesday, Oct. 23: City Council Candidates Forum, 7:30 p.m., sponsored by Top of the World and Temple Hills Associations.
