Most mornings Anne Herzog can be seen outside Laguna Presbyterian Preschool with her arms opened wide, giving each child walking through those gates a “high five” or a hug, welcoming them with a smile on her face.
Last month, Herzog received a greeting of her own at the Orange County Department of Education’s annual Excellence in Early Care and Education Awards ceremony.
Herzog received the outstanding director award. She joined the staff at Laguna Presbyterian Preschool in 2003, and became director a decade later. Since then, she created a partnership with Laguna Beach Unified School District’s special education department. Herzog also connected the local preschool with the county’s Quality Start OC program, which focuses on the quality of early care and education. And she began using developmental screening tools to provide parents with the most accurate developmental picture of their children, says a statement from the preschool.
