Spiritual Healing Speaker Shares Experiences

The Laguna Beach Christian Science Church will present a free lecture on spiritual healing by Marta Greenwood, an experienced Christian Science healer from London, based on Christ Jesus’s command to “heal the sick and raise the dead” at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 21 at the Christian Science Church, 625 High Drive.

Born and raised in Iran, and now a resident of Surrey, England, Greenwood sought an alternative system of healing after undergoing major surgery to remove a life-threatening tumor, but not experiencing a full recovery. A friend told her about the book “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy.

Fluent in English and Farsi, Greenwood worked with abused women in her community where she witnessed the benefits of Christian Science healing on many types of problems and physical conditions, with friends of all faiths and no faiths. She then became an accredited full-time Christian Science practitioner, and later, a teacher.

Church Welcomes Friday Visits

Laguna Presbyterian Church encourages locals and visitors to drop by their sanctuary between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on any Friday, whether to pray, meditate, enjoy the peace and quiet with God, or simply to visit in silence to appreciate the space, including its Spanish colonial revival architecture, Anna Hills’ and Judson Studio’s stained glass windows, the Celtic cross and the wrought iron/starfire glass baptismal font.

The historic, 83-year-old church, which completed a two-year restoration/renovation project in 2009, is located at the corner of Forest Avenue and Second Street. Sunday worship is held at 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. For more information, call 949-494-7245.
