The town’s religious institutions hold special services this week.

St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 1042 Temple Terrace, on Good Friday, April 3, holds a morning prayer at 8 a.m. A solemn liturgy takes place at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. in English and Spanish. On Holy Saturday, April 4, the Great Easter Vigil begins at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday services are at 7:30, 9 and 11 a.m., and at 1:30 p.m. in Spanish.

At Laguna Beach United Methodist Church, 21632 Wesley Dr., there will be a 7 p.m. service on Good Friday, April 3, and at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 4 an Easter egg hunt, open to the public, which takes place in Lang Park, 21540 Wesley Dr. On Easter Sunday the entire community is invited to attend a sunrise worship service at 6 a.m. on Main Beach. Senior Pastor Mandy Flemming will lead the service and attendees are urged to dress warmly and bring chairs, blankets and cut flowers for the cross. At 10 a.m. an Easter service takes place at the church.

At Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Dr., an Easter sunrise service will be held at 6:30 a.m. at Alta Laguna Park, 3300 Alta Laguna Blvd., April 5, in addition to the 10 a.m. service in the church sanctuary.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 428 Park Ave. will have two services on Sunday, April 5, at 8 and 10:30 a.m.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach will have worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 5, 429 Cypress Dr.

Laguna Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Ave., holds a service on Good Friday, April 3, at 7 p.m. On Easter, Sunday services will be held at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m.

 

Jews Mark a Different Passage

Chabad Laguna Beach, 30804 S. Coast Highway, hosts a Passover seder at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 3. Other Passover services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 4; at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 5; at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9; at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10; and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11.

 

Legion Sponsors Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The veterans of Laguna Beach American Legion Post 222 and the Women’s Auxiliary will once again sponsor the annual Easter egg hunt at the Laguna Beach High School baseball field.

The hunt commences at 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 5, and is open to all children under 9. The Easter Bunny will make a personal appearance about 12:30 p.m.
